This hole we dug with our own hands is what collected the water and stopped it from flooding the place.
All day long we keep digging new holes, gathering the water in them, emptying them, and repeating the same work over and over again.
This is our struggle every single time… just to keep the place from flooding, and to stop it from reaching the point where we can’t even walk in it.

And more so, please remember that @casey and I couldn’t hold the verification calls without @joynewacc and @aseelfromgz.

Rarely, we do get someone with whom we can hold the conversation in English and, seeing the live footage of the outside area, we can identify it as Gaza from our experience on previous calls. But 99% of the time it’s Joy and Aseel who, within a few moments of speaking to someone, can identify that they’re Palestinian from their dialect and who can tell that they’re in Gaza as they know the geography of their home. (That is, if they are in Gaza, we also verify Gazans displaced in Egypt, etc., who need help.) Joy and Aseel are doing the validations, really, and that’s how it should be. We’re just along for the ride and, in my case, tech support :)

To end, we haven’t even had a doubt about anyone who we’ve had a video call with and we’re approaching 100 members.

Israel’s genocide is not limited to the physical erasure of the Palestinian people in Gaza and the West Bank but aims to completely erase Palestinians from all aspects of life – both offline and online.
