🚨Make your voices heard & #KILLTHECOOKIEBANNER. 🍪

The European Commission wants to remove the ANNOYING COOKIE BANNER,, but of course Google is lobbying against this. 🍪🙄

Worryingly, EU Member States like Germany and France also want to keep it.

WHY?

Tech Giants like Google make HUGE profits tracking you, so of course they don't want it to be easier for you to not consent. 😡

The EU wanted to kill the cookie banner, but then Google called. | Tuta

The European Commission finally wants to remove the annoying cookie banner and replace it with an automated signal - but doing this would harm tech giants like Google! Now, EU Member States like Germany and France, and US tech giant Google are pushing to keep it.

@Tutanota Done! I just sent out 16 emails or so, yesterday. That's definitely a new step on my responsible European citizen journey :)

@Tutanota @ethniccanuck kinda telling that cookies serve no purpose but to track people. Websites work fine without them.

@Tutanota May I ask naively why you didn't launch a direct petition at the commission on https://citizens-initiative.europa.eu/index_en or for the parliament on https://www.europarl.europa.eu/petitions/en/home

@Tutanota Cookie banners != tracker cookies. If we "kill" the cookie banner, big tech can just now show the cookie banner and track you silently.

@Tutanota And while at writing mails to representatives to #KILLTHECOOKIEBANNER you might as well write them to kill #EUKidsAct and sign this initiative fighting against #EUKidsAct & #ChatControl 2.0:
