This time of year, when the ravens congregate in town before scattering into the countryside for the summer, I tend to stalk their regular hangout spots. #raven #ravens #iceland #nature

Five ravens all lined up in a row on a hill.

A bunch of ravens hanging out on steps over a fence. The fence is long gone, but the gate and the steps are still there.

@baldur Have you ever had conflicts with them? I have, twice, on one of my usual dog walking routes. Near "their" tree, I or the dog must have done something wrong. One of them came from behind, attacking my head, multiple times over until I was able to wave it off. I was quite wary on that route after that, having heard about their memory. I'm still nervous when I encounter them in flocks. Beautiful birds, though.

@baldur

I grew up around blackbirds and being told by teachers that ravens are blackbirds.

As an adult, I moved to another location where ravens would perch up on the edge of the Walmart. They were HUGE compared to blackbirds. I always felt like they were looking down on us humans as some lesser beings.

@Wintergr33n They are much bigger than most expect. And they definitely look at people with some attitude. 😆
