Gosh, I remember the "I'm feeling lucky" bit.
And how Google was so much better than Magellan, LookSmart, AltaVista, Yahoo etc.
I used to use Dogpile, which submitted your search query to multiple engines, then you could chase down the most promising.
Now Google is a pile of dog doo.
