Thx to AI Linux will soon stop being a platform for retrocomputing hardware. Old hw support is getting deprecated to reduce the attack surface.

Meanwhile the Linux Foundation is creating its nth AI/crypto related group.

This is ironic, considering that the @EUCommission just unveiled their Tech Sovereignty Package, emphasizing the importance of #OpenSource. And yet they have migrated their main ATproto accounts to W Social - whose code can no longer be inspected!

@Tutanota I’ve been gradually reducing my reliance on many Big Tech services for the last year — and in most cases I’ve been able to replace them with #OpenSource and/or European alternatives.

I’ve also signed a citizens’ initiative here in Finland that seeks to enshrine #DigitalSovereignty into law.

I don't know why this is a hot take on open source, but apparently it is, so I'm going for it.

If you own a package manager for an ecosystem as a for-profit company, literally your one job is to make sure that your product model is sustainable for your business model. That's it. That's what you signed up for.

I don't want to hear about sustainability and "the commons" from literal technical private domain landholders who are complaining that the business model they are selling isn't profiting enough.

@Tutanota Perfect time for people to jump ship and upgrade to LaTeX which is free and open source. It can do everything MS Word and PowerPoint can do and about a million things more and you can choose your editor. This is a decision you will never regret.

Or if you just want a free and open source alternative, or need the full office suite, then there's Libre Office.

As always, screw Microsoft.
