You made it possible for @joynewacc to leave Gaza and study in Milan. Now you have the chance to reunite her with her sister.
What do you say, Fediverse?
One of our Palestinian volunteers from Gaza*, @rania40, is getting married today.
Please wish her all the best and, if you can, help her as she starts this next chapter of her life by donating to her fundraiser:
https://chuffed.org/project/161851-help-aya-go-to-uni-and-survive-in-gaza
I wish you all the happiness in the world, Aya. Your grace, humanity, and selflessness are an inspiration for us all.
Your daily reminder to not use block lists from anonymous* ban-evading trolls whose dozens of sock-puppet accounts have been suspended on servers across the fediverse and whose blocklists include me as well as every verified Palestinian from Gaza on Gaza Verified (https://gaza-verified.org)
Block this sorry excuse for a human being who is personally complicit in genocide by trying to erase Palestinian voices on the fediverse while Israel works to silence them permanently in Gaza.
* Adam, you’re not as anonymous as you might think. And what you’re doing is despicable.

Hi everyone,
We are aware of a Gaza Verified member who has made multiple other accounts and is sending what appear to be automated direct messages.
We have spoken to him and asked him to delete these accounts and stop the automated messages by end of today and to confirm that he understands that this behaviour damages the reputation of the hundreds of other Palestinians on Gaza Verified and Gaza Verified itself and to promise not to do so in the future.
We apologise if you’ve been contacted in this way. Our verification verifies that someone is a Palestinian from Gaza. It is not a character reference (we can no more vouch for the character of every Palestinian than we can for the character of every USian). However, we have rules clearly set in our guide (https://gaza-verified.org/guide) and these are there to protect the accounts of our friends from Gaza from being reported and thus limited/suspended.
So, please, if you need to mute or block an account, do so. If you’re a server admin and you notice mass automated messages, you’re well within your rights to limit or suspend an account but if it’s not automated, please contact us so we can talk to them and explain why what they’re doing isn’t in their long term interests. Many of you already do and I thank you for it.
Please also realise that there are hundreds of Palestinians who are Gaza verified and they are all suffering through genocide and many are watching their families starve or die due to lack of access to modern medicine (again, because Israel has bombed all the hospitals and doesn’t let aid through as part of its ongoing genocide).
In many Western countries, our governments are directly complicit and, many times, profiting from Israel’s genocide.
Whatever you do, please don’t judge the entirety of something by the actions of a few and please try and keep things – namely Internet etiquette and genocide – in perspective and ask yourselves what you would do if you were in their shoes.
Just to update you all, this is the reply we just got.
Apologies again for any messages you might have received in the past couple of days.

A genuine #GazaVerified account user doesn't create his own Mastodon server as a backup account, then make 2700 posts within a few days, at least some of them DMing randoms begging for money.
According to GV rules, such an account should not have even a backup account. Individual bot-scripted panhandling is also a rule violation.
Maybe that single-user instance lanternfield.org is worthy of a fediblock and defederation

📢 #GazaVerified archive changes
The number of campaigns in the initiative has grown over time, and donors have in some cases been stretched thin across multiple campaigns.
This means that, unfortunately, there are many campaigns that are currently receiving $0/week.
The situation has prompted me to add a last_donation_time field both to the API and to the UI in order to better prioritize aid.
What changes:
<amount:asc, last_donation_time:asc> by default (previously, it was only by amount:asc). So, if many campaigns have failed to collect anything in the past week, they’ll be sorted by when they received the latest donation. A campaign that received the last donation 2 months ago should probably be prioritized more than one that received it 8 days ago. Thanks to @davidculley for reporting the issue.
As a reminder, the source code both of the archive and the gaza-verified website are open, and anyone can contribute to them.
