So this used to be the power station for a wool mill back before there was even a town here in Hveragerði. #photos #iceland

That same house from a different angle. Now you see the steps in the path that runs along its side.

A ruined house, now just brick walls with no roof, built next to a river. The banks of the river are covered with greenery.

The other side of this former power station #photos #iceland

We see a small house by a river, only the walls remaining. Grass is growing around it.

@baldur @SnazzyGumball I love Iceland, it is so beautiful out there. I want to go back and enjoy it with more time.

@baldur there are way more trees and sun than I anticipated of Iceland.
Did this mill produced electricity for the machines or did they use the mechanical force directly ?

@piafosaure I'm not 100% sure, but the Hveragerði area got electric street lights around that time (first outside of Reykjavík) because a worker at the wool mill walking home at night fell into a geyser and died. If there was electricity for the lights then I'm guessing this power station produced electricity.

And Hveragerði was one of the first areas to do active reforestation in the post-war period so we have a little bit more trees in the area than is normal for the south of Iceland.
