🚨 World's first social media ban begins: Australian & under‑16? Your social media account is now locked. 🚨

What's next? From Dec 27 #AgeVerification checks for search engines like #Google.

BUT - Once your data is in the system, what's stopping it from being used for surveillance?

And what happened to #Privacy? 🧐

YouTube already has it ➡️ https://tuta.com/blog/how-to-turn-off-youtube-ai-age-verification

@Tutanota I actually don't mind this, IF it's done in a non-kyc way, where the only thing the platform knows is whether or not you're above the age threshold. Unfortunately, that "if" is sometimes forgotten by governments...

@Tutanota Tuta, there's a fine line between caring for privacy and coming across as someone wearing a tinfoil hat.

@Tutanota
So just like #europe with #chatControl is going to be in few months for >17yo...

What is the purpose behind banning minors from general internet? I get that now in 2025 governments are getting obsessed with surveillance, but what does these bans even for?
